Claudia was the secretary in the student activities office when I was given the job of student activities director at Rialto High School. Over the six years that we worked together, she literally taught me my job. She was a kind, patient teacher who answered my repetitive questions with a smile and always that wry sense of humor. I learned quickly that I could always count on her to "have my back" as I would hers. She was one of the most diligent and dedicated employees I have ever known. 

When it came to working with the students, the mother in her appeared in full force. As with her own kids, Claudia treated our students with a firm but loving hand. She taught them to live up to their promises and was their biggest cheerleader when they did. She had a special place in her heart for our student athletes and their coaches, particularly baseball coach Scott Russell. The two of them shared so many traits: compassion, high expectations, humor, honor. Claudia couldn't do enough for the baseball team and vice-versa.

We were all blessed to know Claudia. Her life was a series of successes: her loving marriage, her children who grew to be upstanding adults, her career in the schools and the kindness she shared with all she came to know.  I missed seeing her every day when I retired. I miss her even more now.

It is a tribute to Claudia that Carl and I attended her beautiful ceremony since we had only had the honor of spending time with her on three occasions: a funeral, where we first met, Carl's birthday dinner at Disneyland, and Andy's birthday dinner at the top of the Palm Springs Tram. Though our actual hours together were few, her warmth and presence were such that she captivated us and made us want to spend time with her.  It is with great sadness that we didn't have more time with her.  She was a gem.

Familia Magdaleno,  May the Lord give you comfort in during this difficult time.  We are very sorry for your loss.   Such a beautiful woman and honored to have known her.
