With heavy hearts, we share that our beloved mother, grandmother, and matriarch, passed away peacefully at the age of 95. She was the heart of our family — loving, generous, and full of quiet strength. She had a sharp mind, a sweet and coy sense of humor, and a way of making people feel cared for just by being near her.
Dolores leaves a legacy of five generations who adored her: a mother of five children Lydia Ortega, Maria Perez, Louie Avila, Ernest Avila, and Alfonso Avila; grandchildren, their children and a great-great grandchild. To us, she wasn’t just a mother, grandmother, great grandmother or a great-great grandmother — she was a best friend, a confidante, and the steady presence we could always count on.
She had a gift for bringing everyone together, often around her kitchen table with a homemade meal and the comfort of her company. She showed her love through food, through gathering us close, and through the simple, thoughtful ways she cared for her family. She loved caring for her garden and everyone knew to just let her handle it her way.
She truly was an angel on Earth, and we take comfort in knowing she’s now with Our Heavenly Father, watching over us with the same love and grace she gave so freely in life.
