Looking at his large collection of sports jerseys you might assume that Drake didn’t have a team, but for all of those who knew him you know he was a ride or die niners fan. Drake Garth Williams, 57, of Redlands, California, was called home to be with the Lord on August 22nd, 2023.
He was born on December 27th, 1965 in the then small town of Redlands, California to parents Linnell and Overture Williams II. His father was a strict but loving man who pushed Drake to be the best version of himself that he could be. His mother, a Godly woman who through faith and diligence was always there for her children. Drake and his older brothers could be seen around town. He once went to a scary movie with his brothers and while walking home, he had to hold onto his big brother, Dale’s, pocket as they walked home in the dark. You would have guessed Drake wasn’t scared of much when you looked at the athlete he became. He excelled in both track and field and football. Like all the athletes of his day there are pictures of Drake sporting his short shorts, showing off his track legs. Drake attended Redlands High School before going to work at the City of Redlands. Drake found his calling helping people start new chapters in life as they move from one home to another. He would often be given valuable items for his show of strength and work ethic. Although he worked hard, he shared a story of a time when he was too scared to go into a presumably haunted basement.
Drake had four wonderful children: Shereda, Porsche, Shadae and Darius. He named Porsche after the car he liked at the time. His kids always knew he loved them and would handle any issues if they needed him to.
He had six grandchildren who knew him as Papa Drake. He seemed to transition from the rough and tough father to the still strong and silent but much more gentle grandfather. His grandchildren always wanted to visit the dogs he would bring home and grow attached to. He went from having rottweilers to chihuahuas and took care of them like another child.
Drake will always be remembered for his sense of humor, cracking jokes, fun loving demeanor and the love he had for his family and friends. We will miss Drake every day, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who love him, and we will find peace in knowing we will reunite once again in the hereafter.
Drake is survived by his mother, Linnell Williams; his children: Shereda Evans, Porsche Racadio, Shadae Williams and Darius Williams; son-in-law Chris Racadio; grandchildren: Jayden Evans Jaylie Racadio, Jaymie Evans, Kaylanni Racadio, Kellan Racadio and Kayden Williams. Drake was preceded in death by his father Overture Williams II, his brothers Overture Williams III, Dale Williams and Tilton Williams, as well as many other beloved family members.
A visitation with reception for Drake will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3520 E. Washington Street, Colton, California 92324. A funeral service will occur Friday, September 15, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM, 3520 E. Washington Street, Colton, California 92324.
