Geri, along with her husband Gary, lived in Reche Canyon for 31 years where they ran their Septic Tank and portable toilet business and raised their 7 children. After the kids all flew the coop, they sold and moved out of the canyon but maintained their friendship with those remaining.
Geri didn’t know how to say no, so consequently she was involved in everything. She held many positions throughout her years such as: Pom-Pom girl and Baton Twirler in high school, Reche Canyon Ryders Board member, Reche Canyon Water Company, Homeowners Assoc., and Natural Gas Board member, San Bernardino/Riverside Chapter of the Liquid Waste Haulers Assoc., President, and Lobbyist, ETI- Equestrian Trails Inc., Renaissance Pleasure Faire Stable Master, Equestrian Special Olympics chairman, Veterans Honor Flight for S.B County President, Volunteer at Loma Linda VA Hospital, Inland Empire Veterans Employment Committee,
VA Ambassador, Riverside County Sheriff Mounted Posse Treasurer and Historian.
After Gary and Geri sold their business, Geri found she couldn’t sit still and hired on with Pinkerton Security which was bought out by Securitas. Geri retired as Major Farris from Securitas Securities after 18 years. Geri loved working for Securitas because she was tasked with helping Veterans find employment. She also loved the fact that she could take new employees under her wing and provide them advice and support and watch them grow.
Geri was an active member of the Riverside County Sheriff Mounted Posse for 30 years and was the recipient of the longest standing member award.
Geri knew no stranger. She loved her family and friends fiercely. She fought for the underdog and was loyal to those she cared for. Geri’s passion for helping Veterans was undeniable. Geri also loved riding her horses. She grew up riding horses and is now in Heaven with her trusty steed Skeeter, who she rode in Gymkhanas, in the Reche Canyon Ryders parades, in the 1998 Tournament of Roses Parade, in the Perris Sheriff Mounted Posse unit, and in the Riverside County Sheriff Mounted Posse where she was proud to carry the American flag in the parades.
Geri was an active member in her church where she helped feed the homeless in the community.
Geri was predeceased by her parents, a sister, and a grandson. Geri is survived by her husband Gary, 7 children: Debbie, Duane, Robert, Janet, Jimmy, Michele and Jon. Also, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 sisters, one being her identical twin.
