Karen Dale Vos was born August 11, 1942 to Roger and Carol Vos in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from Milliken High in Long Beach. Excellent in math, she worked as a mathematician for the engineers at North American Aircraft’s Space and Information Division.
In 1964, Karen got her Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, in Art and in Elementary Education. She taught third grade in Utah for a couple of years, where her students loved her and she loved them. But Karen moved home to California to be close to her family, just as there was a cycle of teacher layoffs.
In 1966 or so, Karen was hired as a Social Worker for the Los Angeles County Welfare Department. She excelled there and was promoted many times within the Department to her final position at the main office. She enjoyed a distinguished career and retired to Colton around 1990, where she lived next door to her family.
Karen was brilliant, and was talented in many areas, including math, drawing, piano, singing, sewing, knitting and gardening. She loved the beach, where she lived for many years. She loved to travel, both with family and with friends. She loved to read, and was good at word puzzles. Karen loved animals, and always had cats in her apartment days, and dogs when she got a house.
Many times in her life, Karen gave loving, compassionate service to family members and to others when they were old or very ill. She was a faithful, practicing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and left this Earth firm with faith that the Lord Jesus Christ was her Savior. She is survived by her Mother Carol, Brother Mark, Sisters Robin and Lindsay, Sister-in-Law Natillie, and nieces Jessica and Darbie. Karen is with her Dad, now. The rest of us love her and will miss her deeply for a time.
