A beloved family member, my uncle Lance Jones, passed away in his sleep last night. He was my mother's brother. He was a kind, gentle-hearted, generous and positive man that served as an example of how a man can squeeze a joy for life out of living. He loved his family and friends completely and shamelessly. My family will never be the same without his laughter and love.

Kelly, The time we have with the one we love is never long enough.  Lance was a good man.  Gary always had an extra fishing pole for a good friend, so I think I know what's going on up there right now! May God's love comfort you.

Lance, you will be missed every opening day of dove season.  Thanks for 30 years of friendship In Yuma.  I hope you and Gary Baker limit out before it gets to hot every Sept 1!

Our family had a lot of fun with Lance. Lance was in his element when he was camping, boating at the river or riding the sand dunes. We were lucky enough to share those times with him. But, the one story that will stick in my mind forever was...at work...and when I visited Lance the week before he passed we laughed about it again.  We both worked in the Arlington C.O. for a very nice supervisor. Now I know that this next line will be hard to believe, but , She knew that Lance and I would get the job done and she didn't have to worry about us or the work. For some strange reason she would call us on the phone when she was coming back to see us in our office. Hmmm...Well that worked out just fine one day. You see I rebuilt Volkswagen engines at home and Lance wanted to know how to rebuild one. So, one day I brought a VW engine in pieces to our office and we started to assemble it. Well, about half way thru the build, our supervisor called and said that she was coming back to see us. Great...So, we looked around and found some boxes and packing to hide this big mound on his desk. When our supervisor came in she gave the pile on the desk a strange look and then left. Fun times. I will never forget Lance's wonderful sense of humor and his fantastic laugh. We first met in Garden Grove 30 years ago and little did I know that one day I'd call you "Friend".  You will be missed old buddy, you will occupy a spot in our hearts forever.

30 years of friendship and great times together, fishing, hunting, and camping.  I'll dearly miss you my good friend. You'll always be in my heart. 

We have wonderful memories of you and Lance at our family gatherings. The Vasquez family.
