Louise Harris was born on February 9, 1930, in Dayton, Ohio, to Ralph and Susan Harris. She passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, at home, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was enveloped in love and prayers as she transitioned in peace and grace.
A member of the first graduating class of Dunbar High School in 1948, Louise married Clifton W. Harris on September 25 of that same year. Together, they shared 53 years of marriage and raised six children—three daughters and three sons. She was a constant source of encouragement and pride, always present in support of her children’s milestones and accomplishments.
Louise built a dedicated career in public service, working for the federal government for 28 years as a Procurement Analyst. She began her career at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton before relocating to California in 1963, where she continued her work at Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino. She retired in 1987.
In her retirement, Louise found her greatest happiness in time spent with family. She cherished her grandchildren—Leah, Courtney, Brandon, Clifton W. III, Lupe, Jonathan, and Cooper—and her great-grandchildren—Jordan, Lucian, Kayden, Nicole, Julian, Devyn, and Keenan. Though she did not have the chance to meet her newest great-grandchild, Jackson, her love and presence will always surround him. She also enjoyed sewing, traveling, and opening her home for gatherings, especially her beloved pool parties that brought together family, friends, and anyone in need of a warm welcome.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton W. Harris Sr.; her son, Clifton W. Harris Jr.; her daughter, Deborah; her parents, Ralph and Susan; and her siblings Wallace, Junior, Bobby, Harold, John, Gordon, and Ethel.
She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Curry and Joy Harris; her sons, Mark Harris and Byron Harris; her son-in-law, Sam; daughters-in-law, Ruth and Ana; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her sister, Joan Lewis.
Louise lived a long, full, and meaningful life. She created a home where people felt welcomed, supported, and deeply loved. Her presence will be missed, but the impact of her life will continue through the many lives she touched.
