Lynne Inez Blackburn was born to James and Gladys Roberts on June 10, 1953 in Los Angeles, CA. Lynne valued education and was a lifelong learner. She received her education from Holy Cross Catholic School in Los Angeles, CA and St. Mathias High School in Huntington Park, CA. Later in life, Lynne took classes at Riverside Community College.
Charles and Lynne were married 51 years, and their union produced two sons, Neil and Yusef. Lynne was a loving and devoted wife and mother.
Lynne began her long career with the State of California in 1979, when she began working for the Employment Development Department in Los Angeles. Due to her knowledge and experience she was promoted through the ranks and retired as a Senior Manager in 2015.
Helping loved ones brought Lynne great joy. She was often the go to person for family members who needed a listening ear or assistance solving a problem. Lynne moved her parents into her and Charles’ home in 2004 and cared for them for many years until they were called to return to their heavenly home.
Lynne was a great cook. Not only did she make contemporary dishes, Lynne preserved her Louisiane Creole culture through cooking. She frequently made Cane River meat pies and pralines. Lynne made her famous gumbo every New Year’s Eve.
Genealogy was one of Lynne’s favorite hobbies. She enjoyed spending hours researching her family’s family tree, historical facts and educating others on her research. She became the administrator of the “Llorens And Family” Facebook group, to further her love of sharing old family photos and connecting with extended family on-line.
