Maria Muñoz De Guaderrama passed away in her home on August 30th, 2023. After a short, but difficult battle with Cancer, she took her last breath surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home. She is survived by her daughters Zuny, Mabel, Arlette & son in law Robert, and her only son Alan. Her grandchildren Noemi, Ivan, Myah, Robert, Richard, Savannah, Carlos, and Cheyenne She also leaves behind her mother Martha, sisters Annete, Jaqueline, and Laura. As well as brothers Raul “Shorty”, Alex, and Rudy. Among many of her extended family this includes many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband Arturo Guaderrama, her sister Martha, and brothers Manuel and Richard.
Born on October 3rd, in the state of Michoacan, Mexico, she and her mother later moved to California when Maria was just a toddler. She and her siblings grew up in El Sereno. in her teenage years, she attended various schools in the area of East Los Angeles. Her family then moved to El Monte where Maria met her to be husband at the age of 18. They married and started their own little family that eventually grew out of their compact apartment and moved in 1991 to their home in Fontana, where they lived the rest of their lives together.
During her entire life, she was dedicated completely to her family and home. However, in 1993, she also dedicated her life and soul to Jesus Christ. Reading the bible and surrounding herself and her family with their church community was always a priority for her. One of the most meaningful friendships she developed was with the Pimentel family after they met over 30 years ago, and lasted a lifetime.
Among many of the positions of employment, her own home-cleaning business was one of her favorites. She immediately made her customers feel like friends and was given their full trust and gratitude. She had the opportunity in this season of her life to meet new people, which was something she absolutely loved. One of her closest friendships was with Dana until the very end. Maria also worked as a cross guard in the most recent years. She loved chatting every morning with the elementary aged kids and their parents. Never missing a chance to make someone smile even before their day had begun.
Maria had a one-of-a-kind personality. She was outgoing, spoke her mind, and was knee-slapping funny. She never let go of that sense of humor that defined her even in her last moments. Everyone in her life recalls how comfortable and heard she made them feel since the short while they had first met. Never letting them go without some words of encouragement, obviously followed by a joke. She showed her love by simply being present. Which is why saying “Goodbye” to her is so difficult for all of us who were blessed enough to have had her in our lives.
“Maria, you will be so missed, your absence leaves us saddened so deeply. We will try to find the strength of letting you go to be with the Lord, praying we get to see you there when our time comes. Until then, we cherish each memory with all our love.”
A viewing for Maria will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 8:00am to 10:00am with a 10:00am Chapel service both at Montecito Cypress Chapel, 24145 Barton Road, Loma Linda, CA 92354. Maria will be laid to rest after the services at Montecito Memorial Park, 3520 E. Washington Street, Colton, CA 92324.
