AUX SOINS DE
Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary
Priscilla Joco Marasigan, also known as "Silang," was born on March 18, 1918 in the town of Orion in Bataan, Philippines. She was one of nine children of Arsenio and Maxima Joco, who were among the first Protestants in their province. As a family, they grew up supporting and hosting American missionaries in their home. Just before World War II, Priscilla earned a Bachelor’s degree at Mary Johnston Hospital School of Nursing and then worked at Quezon Institute, a hospital for tuberculosis patients, where she met her husband, Dr. Benigno Marasigan, a radiologist. After the war, Priscilla worked as a public health nurse in Tondo, Manila, delivering hundreds of babies and doing house calls round-the-clock. They had three children, Elma, Lorna and Elmer, when they moved to Quezon City where she worked as a nurse treating cancer patients at Veterans Memorial Hospital.
When her husband passed away in 1979, Priscilla immigrated to the United States, where she lived with Lorna and late husband Leon Obien in Southern California. Despite taking several opportunities to return to the Philippines, circumstances always brought her back to the States. She kept busy doing what she loved -- helping to care for her grandchildren, gardening, cooking, reading, and sewing. In the last decade of her life, she was happy being with her closest sister, Elizabeth Joco Ferrer, who joined her in Highland, and passed away at the age of 100 years old in 2017. We rejoice that Priscilla is now in the presence of her Savior and reunited with her eight siblings.
Priscilla is survived by her three children: Elma Marasigan, Lorna Obien, and Elmer Marasigan, and his wife Imelda Marasigan; Grandchildren: Jonchris Obien and his wife, Melissa Obien; Loralee (Obien) Alcantara and her husband Dan Alcantara; Melizza Marasigan, Darren Marasigan and Shamira Marasigan. Great–Grand Children: EJ Obien, Matthias Obien, Selah Obien, Corban Obien, Leyna Alcantara and Hailey Alcantara.
