To The Estate Of Virginia Catherine Adkins

Virginia Catherine Adkins, age 85, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2017 in Redlands, California. She was born on April 2, 1932 to Charlie and Rachel (Williams) Reed. On January 24, 1953.,Virginia married her Navy sailor, Robert (Bob) Adkins at the Asistencia Mission in Redlands, California. Virginia was a dedicated secretary. She worked as a secretary for a general at Norton Air Force Base and later worked as a principal's secretary for the Yucaipa Unified School District for 26 years before she retired. Once she retired she enjoyed painting on glass and china, sewing, reading and working as a volunteer camp host at Carpinteria State Beach with her husband, Bob. Virginia loved to tell jokes and put a smile on other people's faces. She loved to host family gatherings and play card games.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Robert Adkins, daughter, Karen Lewellyn,(Bill), son, Steven Adkins, (Melanie). Granddaughters, Nicole Ocasio (Brandon), Ashley Bergquist and Arilyn Adkins. Grandsons, Todd Adkins, (Lisa) and Mason Adkins. Great granddaughters, Elise, Madeleine and Claire Ocasio, Great grandsons, Matthew and Michael Adkins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Rachel Adkins, and son Robert (Phil) Adkins, grandson, Dennis Brown and sister, Marie Gilreath.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 16, 2017, 12 - 1 p.m., and Funeral Services at 1 p.m., both at Montecito Valley View Chapel, 3520 E. Washington St., Colton, California. Burial will follow at Montecito Memorial Park.
