Tony Lopez, age 86, of Grand Terrace, passed away on June 4, 2020. He grew up in San Bernardino and served in the US Navy. He retired as the Chief Building Inspector of SB County and Building Official for the City of Ontario. He was an active member of Kiwanis in San Bernardino and supported the Convent and Orphanage in Tijauna, Mexico. Tony always found time to give back with kindness and goodwill to those in need.
Tony was a parishioner of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church and St. Catherine’s of Sienna in Rialto.
Tony is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hortensia,,his four children; Veronica Lopez (Eddie), Jenny Keller (Nick), Vickie Smith (Randy) and his son, Tony Lopez (Tammy). He leaves ten grandchildren; Andrew, Erica, Lyndsie, TJ, Stacie, David, Jeffrey, Christopher, Anthony and Lauren, and eight great-grandchildren; Corey, Nic, Aubree, Easton, James, Christian, Olivia and Lily. Tony also leaves behind, five of his thirteen surviving siblings, Jessie, Josie, Genevieve, Richard and Robert. He will me missed greatly by many family members, and close friends.
Tony’s life was filled and committed to Faith, Love and Kindness. As he battled his illness, he cherished the love and care provided by his wife, children and grandchildren. He kept his wife in the center of his heart until he took his last breath where he held on until the love of his precious life fell asleep. We imagine he took one more look at her with a small tear in his eye, as he was so afraid to leave her, and whispered goodbye and “I Love you, Sweetie Pie”. We celebrate knowing he is at eternal rest and rejoicing in God’s Heaven.
We would like to express our thanks to his nurses at Fresenius for the wonderful help and care.
