It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Yuet Hong Lowe(Lily Lowe), who passed peacefully at home in Layton, Utah, on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the age of 99. She will be missed dearly and is survived by her daughters: Beatrice (Tony) Wong and Shirley (Wayne) Lim, 6 grandchildren; Serena (Stoyan), Juliana (Nathan), Christopher (Yanping), Justin (Sarah), Stephanie (Jonathan), and Steven (Emily); 5 great grandchildren; Liam, Ethan, Asher, Mira and Jacob, 2 sisters: Pearl and Joyce, and many nieces and nephews.
Born on July 10, 1925, she immigrated to San Bernardino, CA, where she labored tirelessly in the family grocery business (Palace Market) and later in partnership with her brother the Imperial Palace Restaurant in San Bernardino. After selling the businesses, she retired at age seventy-five and continued to live in San Bernardino for another decade before transitioning to live in Utah with her daughter, Shirley.
She showed her love for others through her food with a talent to recreate the dishes shown on cooking shows and family recipes that were time honored. Another true passion was in gardening and sharing the fruits of her labor as, home grown delicious persimmons, Asian pears, 2 types of Asian grapefruits and various Chinese vegetables and melons. She loved to go on shopping sprees with her brother who was her lifelong neighbor and took great pleasure in visiting her sister Joyce in McFarland, where she would pick walnuts and almonds and visit her other sister, Pearl in Dinuba. Most of all, she enjoyed surprised visits from her daughters and grandchildren and especially during the holidays.
While we grieve her passing, we find solace that she lives on with cherished memories within our hearts.
Visitation and services will be held on November 16, 2024, Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary, Cypress Chapel (3520 E. Washington Street, Colton, CA); Visitation-8:00am – 9:00am followed by services at 9:00am – 10:30am, and interment to follow at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary.
