She was born on June 26, 1951, in Cumberland, MD., daughter of the late Edward and Ada (Markley) Welch.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband of 40+ years, Anthony (Tony) J. Pierro Jr. She is survived by two daughters: Laurie Prozeller and Kelly (Larry) Stoner, and a son Bobby (Richa) Shifflett; ten grandchildren: Brian, Aaron, Caitlyn, Brandon, Madison, Connor, Sareah, Mike, Jason, Ethan; two great grandchildren: Victoria and Ryker; two sisters: Kathy Welch, and Leslie Higgs (Welch), and a brother Edward (Linda) Welch Jr. and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She is a graduate of Atholton High School, where she met her husband and soulmate, Tony. A born empath and teacher, she explored courses in nursing and sign language while attending Howard Community College. Her dedication as an educator combined with her caring nature, compassion, and sincerity, earned her a position as a counselor at the Maryland School for the Deaf, where she retired after serving over twenty-five years.
Connie was big hearted, vibrant, and radiated light. She was highly family oriented. One of her favorite past times was organizing family get-togethers, where we played cornhole, listened to music, and drank virgin pina coladas. Her strong will and persuasive style ensured high attendance for all to come. She had immense passion for family, spiritual work, shopping, and going out to eat. She had a generous soul, was a “giver,” and a natural when it came to Motherhood. She consistently tried to uplift others, regardless of her own needs. She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and a perpetual smile. She had a big heart, loved all, and had a knack for chatting with anyone during her daily walks around the neighborhood.
Connie was a devoted Christian. She enjoyed reading the bible, listening to prayers, and discussing Bible verses. Even in her hardest days, she attended church when she could, and she hosted and attended many bible study groups.
