Liz was funny, silly, and loving in every way. She might seem quiet (and maybe even mad?) at first, but will quickly show her mischievous spirit and ability to make everyone feel comfortable. She was creative (you should see her most recently themed origami masterpieces!) and was always connected and proud of her Filipino roots.
Liz had a passion for fashion, music and travel but her biggest passion was her love for her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, loved Roman to the moon and back, and everyone in her life knew her love through her warmth, infectious laugh, and generosity. She touched all who knew her.
Liz was born in the Philippines on July 21, 1972 and was the second of four siblings born to Dr. Jose and Isabelita Manalang. They moved to Nigeria when she was 6 years old and then imigrated to the neighborhood of Brighton Beach in Brooklyn, NY when she was 13.
She graduated from Hunter College where she met the love of her life, John. They got engaged in Providence RI at the stroke of midnight when the new millennium rang in (thank goodness no real issues happened with Y2K)!
They married in Brooklyn in April of 2001 where both Liz and John grew up, and they moved to Fairfax Virginia soon after they married. Linus (the rottweiler) joined their life once they moved and they stayed in Northern Virginia until life had them move to Columbia, Maryland in 2007.
Columbia is where her dream of becoming a mother came true when Roman was born in November 2009. Together they raised Roman in the same house they loved where they entertained many friends and family. They created memories that will last a lifetime.
