Janet was my pharmacy director at Lutheran General Hospital.  I corresponded with here during some adverse times sometime after the first decade in the new millennium.   I was shocked to see she had passed away.  She was a very supportive person.  I remember going to see a Donny Osmond And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat when I worked at Lutheran General Hospital.  It was a great time.  She drove us down in her Mercedes.  I also used to walk with her for charity along the lakefront while I worked at Lutheran General Hospital.

Joe, I found this on a "lark," and I am sad to learn that you have lost your wife.

I have just learned of Janet's passing. My condolences to her family, colleagues, and friends.I worked with her at Lutheran General and on a mission trip to Guatemala, and I always looked forward to seeing her at ASHP meetings. I have just learned the sad news of Janet's passing. I worked with her a lot when I was with ASHP, and I know that she will be missed greatly.

I am very saddened to just be learning of Janet's untimely departure.  I had a brief opportunity to work with her regarding her desire to purchase new appliances. Even then you could tell she had a zest for life and a desire to excel in whatever challenges came her way.  In the 35 years that have passed I had sporadically kept in touch with her and followed her extraordinary progress in the profession of pharmacy.  I was extremely shocked and saddened to hear of her passing.

Many of our lives were touched by Janet, both professionally and personally.  She was a major influence on the practice of pharmacy and her loss is deeply felt.  She was truly a special person, pharmacist and leader.  My thoughts and prayers are with her family.  Forever in our hearts.

I had the awesome privilege of serving Janet for 5 years as her Administrative Assistant.  It is with great sadness that I have received the news of her transition. May God bless and comfort the family and friends during this time of bereavement. Her gentle and meek spirit will truly be missed!

I had the privilege of briefly meeting Janet but she left me with lifelong memories. She touched my life in a way that led to my dream career. Aloha, Janet!

My sincere sympathies to Janet's family and her ASHP colleagues. I knew Janet through residency training.  She was always available for questions and guidance by phone or email. She genuinely cared about making residency programs successful, by engaging the people in them to do better.  To see her at the Midyear and residency conferences was to reconnect with a friend. One of her many legacies will be her positive effect on the education of young pharmacists.

I was hired by Janet almost 30 years ago as a technician while I was in pharmacy school.  One year I wasn't able to travel back home for Thanksgiving.  She and her husband had an open house for anyone who wasn't going home for Thanksgiving and they cooked for a horde: two turkeys and all the trimmings.  It really meant a lot to me that someone cared how it felt to be alone on a holiday.  While I haven't seen her for many years I still remember her fondly, she was a wonderful person who was highly regarded and a great supervisor.

I worked with Janet for the past two years.  Although we didn't work closely together, I always looked forward to her calls and office visits.  She was a pleasure to talk to and always had a positive outlook.  I will miss our phone chats dearly.

My thoughts are with Janet's family and friends.

Janet and I were on several speaker panels together over the years.  She clearly made her mark in hospital pharmacy and in healthcare.  We will miss her greatly, and we were all better because of who she was and what she contributed back for us all.

Janet was instrumental in changing my career path and I will always be grateful to her for that.  Her guidance as Director at ASHP was so appreciated - she was always available and always calm, cool and collected even when I wasn't!  Her passing is heart-wrenching.  I wish strength and peace to her family and friends.  We will all miss her so very much.

I have worked with Janet closely for 10yrs.  She was my mentor, friend, and my at work mom.  She was always there for my losses and wins of my life.  She watched me grow as a woman, mother, and wife.  I will miss her presence deeply and cherish my memories of her.  She was a risk taker and a champion for the underdog.  I will share all the things she taught me about life with my children and tell them that if they ever come across “a Janet” to make sure you love them and protect their essence, they're always looking out for others.  I love you Janet and I'm so glad that I got the chance to tell you.

One of the amazing things about Janet was her ability to connect with friends and pharmacy professionals all over the world on many levels.  She was an amazing friend with whom I shared stories about good food, our aging parents, books, and hiking.  Sharing stories with Janet about travels always made me feel as if I had gone on some of her wonderful trips.  Janet was not only a treasured friend, but the consummate professional who was truly passionate about providing opportunities for as many young professionals and technicians as possible to receive additional training in residencies and strong training programs.  All of Janet's ASHP family will truly miss talking and interacting with her on many levels.

My deepest condolences to Joe and to Janet's family. Janet's life, energy, and commitment to the pharmacy profession were an inspiration to all of us.   I will never forget her effervescent smile and friendship.  Rest in peace Janet.

My deepest sympathies. Though I met Mrs. Teeters relatively recently, I always felt her sincerity. Pharmacy has lost a great leader, but she will continue to inspire through the lives she has touched.

I was so fortunate to have had Janet as my residency director at Lutheran General Hospital.  She was a wonderful teacher and mentor and I continue to try to emulate the traits she demonstrated every day.  She was a quiet, graceful and compassionate leader.  I will never forget our trip to the Grand Canyon.  What a blast!  I always hoped to travel with her again, and looked forward to her Christmas card every year to find out what her latest adventures were.  My sympathies to Joe and the rest of her family.  We have lost a truly great lady.

I cannot believe that my fun-loving, intelligent, caring cousin ... one year older than me almost to the day ... Janet Hamm Teeters ... is gone. As a "meme" that I found and posted recently for Janet says, she "lived as if someone left the gate open." And, as she would say ... so should we. We will miss you, Janet, very much. Janet, my dear friend, I wish I had a chance to give you the Christmas present I bought for you a year ago, and never got the chance to give it to you in person. I will miss our get togethers, even though it has not been easy to schedule given your busy travels. I will miss all the postcards you sent, no matter how far you went, you always shared your experience with others. I will miss your smile and the sparkles in your eyes whenever you talk about your adventures, your horse, and your new house in the mountains. Thanks for being a bright spot for everyone's life. It is with utter disbelief and sadness that I can only echo the sentiments so many others have already shared.  Janet was definitely one in a million; as a mentor, a colleague, and as a friend. Her encouragement, support, patience, grace and love will never be forgotten by anyone who had the privilege to know her.

Janet was my boss for 3 years and the little time we shared together was uplifting. She had a way of sharing her love with her warm spirit and laughter. When she smile she brought light to the office. Janet introduced me to peeps and would say Cindy lets eat a peep to get us going through the day of hard work. We had something in common we both were born in September and now being without her to celebrate our day it's going to be hard. She will always be remembered. The family are in my prayers.  Cindy

What a wonderful full life!!  I never got to visit a lot with Janet...but Joe stopped up quite a bit and helped me.  He loved her like I need air!  My heart aches for him and her family.  She is such an inspiration...I wished I would have known her other than a neighbor.  From the photos, I'm sure she had wonderful stories she could have shared...

 Janet was extraordinary . I always admired her sense of adventure; she had the courage to travel and experience life in such a way that people only dream of. My friends and I looked forward to her Holiday Greetings every year! No dull or typical Christmas letters from her! We traveled vicariously thru her!
 My Father is the luckiest Man on the planet, to have been the one to win her heart!
 I did not get the chance to spend as much time with her as I would have liked , but the times and conversations we did have were memorable to be sure. I had a terrible loss myself recently  , and Janet was so supportive and compassionate to me; it made such a positive difference for me . My condolences to Dad, her family , and friends. I can only imagine your grief, and disbelief of her early parting  . She really was the most interesting person I ever had the privelege to meet ! I am sending my prayers and thoughts to Janet's family, friends, and colleagues. She was such an inspiration to many inside and outside the profession of pharmacy.  More importantly, her compassion and passion in all that she did and believed in was truly representative of an amazing person.

My friend Janet was so down-to-earth and real.  She was easy to talk with and always focused on caring and helping her friends.  As a colleague, you could not find anyone more focused and committed on doing the right thing for her profession.  She gave her heart and soul in all that she did and pharmacy is better because of her leadership.  I'll miss those chats after 7 pm when everyone else was gone and we could catch up. Janet was my boss and friend.  She believed in me and offered encouragement, sharing my successes with me.  She lived her life to the fullest, filled with diverse activities to balance her professional life...a true role model.
