Marie Catherine (“Cathy” “LuLu”) Ludeke passed away in the evening of December 28, 2025 at the age of 77. Predeceased by her mother, Marie Ludeke, and father, Carl Ludeke, she is survived by her cousins, David Borofka (Deb), Susan Young, Rosemary Bour, and Frank Seuberling. She is especially remembered and loved by longtime friends, including Kay Thomas, Susan Peck, Joann Gellman, and Maryann Newkirk.
Cathy was a woman of many talents: an artist in a variety of media, an early adopter of personal computers, and a lifelong believer in equity and inclusion. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati and the University of Indiana, she worked in several different venues, beginning with Toshiba, before finding real meaning in her work as an office manager/coordinator for the ARC of Howard County.
For many years, Cathy attended a small art group in the Columbia area. Her work shows the detail she had perfected in oil painting, stained glass, and fiber arts. She loved color and textures and brought it into her environment as well as her clothing. She enjoyed many a pretty piece of jewelry to compliment her outfits.
She loved handiwork and was proficient at crochet where she was able to work with the colors that she so adored. More recently, she attended flower arranging classes at Vantage Point.
She took pride in her work and pride in the life she had established for herself in Columbia. She loved dogs and cats, a good lunch with friends, and the next great art class.
We are grateful for the love and support, kindness and forbearance as provided by the dedicated staff at the Residences at Vantage Point, especially for the care providers on the third floor. Our thanks and blessings.
