Raymond Anthony Pastore

On January 14, 2025, Raymond Anthony Pastore (age 92) of Columbia; Beloved husband of 56 years to Eileen Rose Pastore, who predeceased him in 2016; Loving father of Lora Ann Wehar, Mary Elizabeth Pastore, John Robert (Michelle) Pastore, Michael Anthony Pastore, and the late Joseph Gerard Pastore; Cherished grandfather of David and Stephen Wehar, Nicholas Pastore, and John and Olivia Pastore. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Lorenzina Pastore, and by his brother, John Pastore. He is survived by his brother, Joe Pastore.

A first-generation Italian-American originally from Newark, New Jersey, Ray married Eileen, and they raised five children together. He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering, an M.S. in Mathematics, and an MBA. Ray worked for various companies as a management consultant, which brought him and his family to Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, California, and Virginia. He then went to work for the Federal Government in Maryland until his retirement. Ray enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins over the years and then became a Baltimore Ravens fan. A deeply intellectual and curious man, Ray pondered the profound questions of life and passed on a strong passion for learning to his children. He especially enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren and teaching them all sorts of skills and important life lessons. Ray was a loyal, faithful, loving provider, who used his wit and charm to keep everyone laughing. He will be sorely missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 22, at 11:00 AM, at St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church, at 114 St. Mary’s Place, Laurel, MD, 20707. Reception to follow in the Breen Room at St. Mary's. Interment will be held at 3:00 PM at the Chestnut Grove Cemetery, 831 Dranesville Road, Herndon, VA, 20170.
