Born in Peckville, PA on October 27, 1939, Tom was the son of the late Anthony and Jenny (Marra) LaVigna. He graduated from Blakely High School in 1957 and went on to Lafayette College where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering in 1961. Tom worked at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland for 32 years before retiring in 1998. After retirement, Tom enjoyed living in Florida and going on cruises around the world before settling back in Maryland.
Preceding him in death was his daughter, Brenda LaVigna and his sisters Josephine Natale and Elizabeth Clinton.
Tom is survived by his two sons, Anthony LaVigna and his wife Ann and Christopher John LaVigna and his wife Susan; his five grandchildren, Sara, Rachel, Shelby, Charlotte, and Brendan, and his 3 great grandchildren, Inna, Lesya, and Giulia; and his brother William LaVigna.
