

William A. McConarty “Bill”, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, born August 12, 1941 in Van Buren ME, passed away on April 12, 2022 in Melbourne, FL after complications from heart surgery. He was married to the love of his life, Peggy, for 47 years, and is survived by his son Will (Jackie) and their children Ivy and Liam, and his son John (Michelle), and John’s son Nathan. Additionally he is survived by his siblings Irene McConarty, Jim McConarty and Maureen Simpson. He was preceded in death by his sister Marie McConarty.
During his long and lucky life, he was an avid golfer, sailor, recreational pilot, skier, teacher, builder, engineer and executive. Most recently he was “retired and loving it” in Titusville, FL.
Bill spent his childhood years in various small towns along the eastern Canadian border as the son of an US Immigration officer. He graduated with honors from Northeastern University as a mechanical engineer and obtained his masters degree in industrial engineering from Stanford University.
In 1975 he co-founded AMAF Industries/Link Plus corporation, a defense and electronics contracting company. He met Peggy while visiting his parents for Christmas in Puerto Rico. After a whirlwind romance they settled down in Ellicott City, MD and raised their family. He was taken too soon, and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held April 21, 2022, 10:00am, at Church of the Resurrection, 3175 Paulskirk Dr, in Ellicott City, MD. Interment at Columbia Memorial Park, 12005 Clarksville Pike, will immediately follow the service.
