

Alfred E. (Al) Holt, Jr., 68, of Columbia, MO passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024 in Columbia with his family by his side. Services will be at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO. With burial and military honors in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Al was born, January 19, 1956 in Virginia, the son of Alfred Sr., and Mildred Smith. He was a 1974 graduate of Millington Central High School in Tennessee. After high school, he worked for International Harvester for a short while, then, as the company began lay-offs, he joined the US Air Force. For 18 years he served as a mechanic, and was stationed at several bases before finally settling in Missouri. On March 28, 1980, he married Susan Ringelspaugh in Tampa, Florida. They lived in Warrensburg, MO while he was stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base working as a mechanic. He was part of the first group to bring the B2 Bomber from California to its home in Missouri. After over 18 years of service, he took early retirement.
He began working for the US Postal Service before being medically retired. He and Susan moved to Columbia in 2012 to be nearer their grandchildren. Al was a gifted mechanic and builder, able to repair anything including car engines and anything beyond. Al was a private and loving man who loved to spend time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susan Holt; children, Joshua Holt of Kansas City, KS, Scott Holt of Columbia, and Jackie and Bryan Madeira of Columbia; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
