

Amy Anselm, 48, of Columbia, MO passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in Columbia, MO. Friends may gather for a celebration of life 1-2:30pm, Saturday, May 17th at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia. Inurnment will be at 2:30pm in Memorial Park Cemetery’s Tranquility Garden.
Amy was born on August 28, 1976 in Missouri. She spent her life working through complications of Muscular Dystrophy. She was a 1994 graduate of Rockbridge High School and then went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Missouri Western in St. Joseph, MO. She worked in the Insurance industry for several years until recent health issues limited her abilities. She and her late father, Dick Anselm, were advocates for research in Muscular Dystrophy. They worked together locally and abroad raising awareness and funding.
She is survived by her mother, Theresa Nanette Karnes, brother, Shane (Janet) Anselm of St. James, MO; stepsisters Patricia (Jody) Forester, Elisha Karnes; stepmother, Dianna Anselm of Columbia; stepbrothers, Brian (Mindy) Diel and Matthew Diel all of Columbia; aunt and uncle, Carolyn (Bruce) Fetter of Springfield, aunt and uncle Missy (David) Frazee of Springfield, many friends and a loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her father; Dick Anselm, and aunt, Mary Kay Markwardt.
