Bobby D. Bieri

Bob graduated from California High School in 1947 where he played basketball for the Pintos.

He joined the United States Navy in 1950 serving during the Korean War on the USS Sicily CVE 118 and received an honorable discharge in 1954. Bob was a member of the U.S.S. Sicily Association, Escort Carriers Sailors and Airman Association and the VFW. On February 27, 1960, Bob was married to Mary Ellen McAtee. They were married for an amazing 55 years.

An avid sports fan, Bob supported the Missouri Tiger Teams and loved the St. Louis Cardinals. Bob was a coach of many of his children’s teams and attended his grandchildren’s sporting events whenever possible. Hobbies included building models, collecting Cardinal and Navy memorabilia. He enjoyed questioning Gary Pinkel’s coaching decisions and disliked anything to do with ESPN sports center, all in good fun. Bob retired from the University of Missouri after 31 years.

Survivors include his sons, Steve (Brenda) of Benton, AR and David (Tamberlyn) of Ballwin, MO; daughter, Susan (Brian) Washington of Columbia, MO; 5 grandchildren, Spenser and Sydney Washington, Kaelin Bieri, Jacob and Olivia Bieri.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm, Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home. Private family graveside services will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
