Bruce was born on February 18, 1959 in Columbia, the son of Aubert Earl Smarr and Jo Ann (Daly) Smarr.
Bruce graduated from Hickman High School in 1977. Bruce worked construction for his father Earl Smarr before heading off to Colorado a few times for construction jobs. Bruce had an array of professions throughout his life. He worked as a guide for outfitters in Idaho, for the Bellamy Brothers and Alabama Bands and most recently for Timberline Cabinets.
Bruce was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, taking many trips with his friends across the country. Bruce touched many people and friends as he was always willing to help out a friend in need. He had a certain charisma about him that people gravitated to.
He always loved to be with his friends and family. He was very proud of his son, grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Bruce is survived by his son Zach (Laura) Dooley; his grandchildren Aurelia and Felix; brothers Dennis (Nita) Smarr and Andy (Lisa) Smarr; nephews Charles (Jessica Huszar) Smarr, Jordan Smarr, Kyle (Brittany Sapp) Smarr, Takoda Smarr; nieces Ashley Smarr (Matt) Triplett, Kaylee Smarr; as well as 5 great nieces and nephews.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father Earl Smarr, mother Jo Ann Smarr and brother Jim Smarr.
A visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 West in Columbia, on Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 10:00 am until noon. A funeral service will immediately follow.
