

She was born on November 11, 1939, in Ithaca, New York, to the late Alfred Paul Cooper and Dorothy Mae (Patton) Cooper, later known as Dorothy Mae (Patton) Votaw.
Jeannie was united in marriage to Robert Carroll Simmons on May 14, 1983. He preceded her in death in 2008.
She built a career in banking, serving as a savings operation’s supervisor. Jeannie found joy in sewing, crafting, reading, and traveling, especially with the close friends she made through the “PAWS” RV group. She will be remembered as a caring and thoughtful person who valued time with others.
She is survived by her children, Kevin Meyer (Lori) and Craig Meyer; stepchildren, Linda (Rich) Geel, Bill (Mollie) Simmons, and Pat (Dar) Simmons; brother, Eddie Cooper; grandchildren, Kyle Meyer, Cassie (Meyer) Bradford, Nate Meyer, and Stevie Meyer; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her half-brother, David M. Votaw.
A celebration of life will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W, Columbia, Missouri.
