Carolyn "Sue" Elder

Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2021 with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. Entombment in the mausoleum will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Sue was born to William and Mary Rhodes, January 5, 1942 in Columbia, MO. She attended Hickman High School and married Richard Elder in 1960 and soon began their family. Sue was a homemaker and eventually a secretary at Bethany Baptist Church in Columbia. She was very involved in the church, and was a Sunday School teacher. Sue was a poet and wrote daily. She was also a huge Mizzou sports fan, she always had a game on in the house either on the radio or T.V. Sue and Richard enjoyed travelling together to see country music shows.

Sue is survived by daughters, Sheri Elaine Malm of Columbia, Lori Louise Madoll (Terry) of Minnesota, Kelli Sue Bias of Columbia; son, Richard Earl Elder (Angela) of Hermann; eleven grandchildren, Chuck Aust, Corey Aust, Steven DeVore, Stephanie Key, Jessica Pollock, Skylar Bias, Jordan Aust, John Michael Bias, Haley Aust, Cheyenne Elder, Ayden Elder; and 14 great grandchildren.

Sue was proceeded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Mary, Lavern, Shirley, and Billie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home.
