Charlie was born on July 10, 1955, in Stuttgart, Germany, to Charles A. Theberge, Sr. and Sylvia (Young) Theberge. Raised in a military family, Charlie experienced life in many places, attending several schools before eventually graduating from Richland High School in Richland, Missouri. He went on to pursue his bachelor’s degree at Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri.
On September 18, 1979, Charlie married, Kimberly Garrett, in Columbia, Missouri. Together they were blessed with three children: Tony, Tina, and Matthew.
Charlie proudly dedicated 22 years of service to the Army National Guard, serving his country with commitment, integrity, and honor before retiring as a Major.
A faithful and devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for 45 years, Charlie’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He taught Sunday school, ensured all of his children were baptized in the church, and lived his faith through kindness, generosity, and service to others.
Charlie had a deep passion for coin collecting and possessed an impressive wealth of knowledge on the subject. He also had an enormous heart for animals, showing compassion to all creatures great and small. Above all else, Charlie treasured time spent with his family and especially adored his beloved dogs, Fawkes and Blue.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Theberge of Columbia, Missouri; his children, Tony Theberge (Heather), Tina Sliger (Jeremy), and Matthew Theberge, all of Columbia; four cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn Theberge, Abbey Theberge, Ava Jean Sliger, and Kayden Jay Sliger, all of Columbia; his sister, Mary Theberge of Laquey, Missouri; and six brothers, Michael Theberge of Independence, Missouri, Kenneth Theberge (Linda) of Clark, Missouri, David Theberge (Patricia) of Columbia, Missouri, Daniel Theberge (Nikol) of Wright City, Missouri, Donald Theberge of Crocker, Missouri, and Stephen Theberge (Christina) of Fredericksburg, Virginia. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Donna Marie Theberge, and Jean-Paul Theberge.
In honor of Charlie’s deep love for animals, the family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Central Missouri Humane Society.
