Connie Sue McConnell

Connie was born in Moberly, MO on August 25, 1947, the daughter of Walter and Dorothy Elliott. She graduated from Moberly High School in 1965. Connie met her husband at a community dance in Moberly and the two were married the following year. Together, they would attend the University of Missouri in Columbia, where Connie earned a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Mathematics Education. She taught at Moberly and Mexico High Schools for several years and later continued her education, earning a master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Missouri in 1986. She then worked as a School Psychologist for the Columbia Public School District for 17 years until her retirement in 2004.

Connie was a loving and attentive mother to her three children, and prided herself on keeping a clean and comfortable home. She enjoyed cross-stitch, sewing, and other crafts which she would gift to friends and family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moberly, and attended First Baptist of Mexico, Calvary Baptist, and Woodcrest Chapel of Columbia. Connie will be remembered as a woman with a generous heart and an abiding faith in God which she shared with others passionately.

As she aged and her physical health weakened, Connie found immense joy in becoming a grandmother. She provided care for her three granddaughters who were always welcome at her home and would often spend weekends with their “Granny.”

Connie is preceded in death by her husband, Paul McConnell. She is survived by her two sons, Brad and Scott McConnell; daughter, Jill Wade (Brent); granddaughters, Alison, Sara, and Leah; brothers, Cecil, Richard, and Duane; sister, Janet; and her aunt, Mary.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm on Saturday November 12, 2022 at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, MO and all are welcome to attend the funeral services which will immediately follow at 1:00 pm. Services will be live streamed on the funeral home's Facebook page at Memorial Funeral Home, Crematory, and Memorial Park Cemetery/Columbia. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
