David Spotts

James “David” Spotts, 67, of Columbia, Missouri passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. There will be a Gathering of Friends from 2-3 PM on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Memorial Funeral Home.

David was born in Moberly, Missouri on November 6, 1955, the son of James Willard Spotts and Glenda Louise (Block) Spotts who have both preceded him in death. He was raised in Huntsville and then graduated from Boonville High School in 1974.

David worked in the construction industry until 2007 when he went into business with his son, Kris, in a wholesale distribution company, State Beauty Supply of Central Missouri.

David’s parents spent much of their spare time taking their three children camping and boating on Thomas Hill Lake near Huntsville, Missouri. This developed a love of the water and outdoors that David enjoyed the rest of his life. He spent many years camping, hiking, canoeing and boating on Missouri rivers and lakes with his family and friends. He also went on many trips whitewater canoeing on rivers in other states as a member of the Missouri Whitewater Association.

David is survived by his wife: Cathy (Richardson) Spotts; his sons: Kristopher (Kristi) Spotts; Skylar Spotts; three granddaughters: Livia; Sophia; Lexie all of Columbia; one brother: Glen (Cheryl) Spotts of Armstrong, Missouri; one sister: Libby Spotts of Eldon, Missouri and a host of cousins; nieces and nephews.
