Edwin Wendell Bartilson Jr.

Ed Bartilson, 80, of Columbia, MO passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, October 3, 2020. A Memorial Service will be held, 2:30 PM Saturday, October 10th at Fairview Road Church of Christ, 201 South Fairview Rd, Columbia, MO 65203.

Eddie was born April 23, 1940 in Springfield, OH, the son of Edwin and Mildred Wareham Bartilson SR. As a young man, he served as a Volunteer Fireman, then served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962. On April 28, 1963, he married Jean Ault in Woodsfield, OH. He worked many years for Scotch Plaid Inc, and retired as Warehouse Manager. He and Jean moved to Columbia, MO in 2005 to be closer to family.

He was very active in his church, taking many opportunities to teach, mentor and serve others; filling many roles such as Preacher, Deacon, and Elder. Ed loved working with youth and teens. He had a positive personality and a friendly smile. He was known for his great sense of humor and storytelling, and was always sure to personally thank any service member he came across. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, of 57 years, Jean; four children, Jeffrey (Sarah) Bartilson of Searcy, AR, Randy (Carol) Bartilson of Woodbury, TN, Teresa Hendrickson of Columbia, MO, and Tiffany (Andrew) Lough of Columbia, MO; three brothers, William (Ruth) Bartilson of Akron, OH, Matt (Mary) Bartilson of Hilliard, OH, and David Bartilson of Southfield, MI; 15 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and many friends and family for whom he cared greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter, Sydney Lough.
