Ella Jo (Simmons) Clayborn, 86 of Columbia, Missouri, died Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the Bluffs in Columbia. She was born January 31, 1939, in Anniston, Missouri, to Eddard and Orabell (Ingram) Simmons.
Prior to retirement Ella was co-owner and operator of JJ’s in Columbia, MO. She married James Clayborn, Sr. on February 19, 1955, and he preceded her in death August 5, 2023. Also preceding her in death were her parents and six siblings and one great granddaughter.
Survivors include her children, J.R. Clayborn and wife Becky of Fulton, MO, Sandy Taylor of Holiday, MO, and Gary Clayborn of Columbia, MO; brother, Lee Simmons; eight grandchildren; 11
great- grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Ella attended The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and was a devoted lifelong member. She deeply valued her church family, treasured moments with her loved ones, and enjoyed the simple pleasure of leisurely window shopping.
