

Harry Joseph (Doc) Wulff, age 86 of Columbia MO, passed away on January 29, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Services will be 11am, Thursday, February 6 at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO with inurnment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may gather at the funeral home from 10-11am before the service.
Doc was born to Margaret and Louis Wulff on February 10, 1938, in Vienna, MO. Doc married the love of his life, Phyllis Elma Barton on May 25, 1957 at Sacred Heart church in Columbia MO.
He is preceded in death by siblings Mary, Al, Bill, Marty; his daughter-in-law Jill, and son Joseph.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Phyllis Barton Wulff, son John & Mary P Wulff, daughter Mary L Wulff, son Edward Wulff, son Mark & Debbie Morris Wulff, grandchildren Kristy Sandefur, Hailey Wulff, Allison Wulff, Cole McCabe and great grandson Shaun Kopko.
Doc was the youngest of 5 siblings on a farm in Dixon, MO where they raised dairy cattle and produce. In 1947, his family moved to Columbia where he later graduated from Hickman High School and went on to serve 7 years in the National Guard.
In his early years, Doc delivered bread for the Columbia Baking Company, which was owned by his father in law. Doc then spent the majority of his career as a masonry contractor and served on the Board of Trustees for the Bricklayers Union representing contractors. Doc also served on the Columbia COLT Railroad Advisory Board. 1960, Doc formed Wulff Brothers Masonry, with his brother Marty. They built commercial and industrial buildings across the state including Columbia Hospitals, University of Missouri buildings and the Columbia Public Library. Doc was intrigued by anything mechanical and sponsored several race cars, some of which were driven by George Montgomery and Ever Ray (Ever Ready) Willingham. Doc was also co-owner of Critter Guard which was a product that protected electrical services. He was invited on board of the nuclear submarine, USS Columbia, for an honorary dive.
Doc was known for his quick wit and wild sense of humor. He was always there with a helping hand or a funny joke. He could always be counted for an innovative solution when presented with a problem. Doc was caring, hard-working and supportive of many and he will be missed dearly.
