Helen Maxwell, 89, of Columbia, MO passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025, in Columbia. A graveside service will be held at 11am, Friday, February 7, 2025, 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO 65202.
Helen was born October 19, 1935, in Cape Girardeau, MO to John and Cleora Cooper Maxwell. On November 3, 1957, she married John ‘Jack” Maxwell in Miller County, MO and they would later move to Columbia in the mid 70’s. For 27 years she had taught at Fairview Elementary School, a job she loved, along with her partner in the Dynamic Duo, Patsy Watt. She and Jack were supporters and fans of Mizzou Football and Basketball, and avid St. Louis Cardinal fans. She had a green thumb and enjoyed caring for her flower garden. She also raised and loved many dogs including Boxers, Schnauzers, and most recently her poodle Bailey. Helen was preceded in death by her husband John “Jack” Maxwell.
