

Jeanette was born on December 5, 1960 in Columbia to Mahlon and Shirley Fairchild and graduated from Rock Bridge High School in 1979. She married the love of her life, Dale Forbis, on March 19, 1982 and he survives.
Jeanette attended the Strawn School of Practical Nursing and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1983. Always wanting to better herself, Jeanette went on to Lincoln University and graduated with an Associates Degree in Nursing Science and later obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing in 1991. She then went on to obtain her Master’s Degree and become a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Practitioner. Jeanette was published in research journals many times and presented often at clinical conferences.
While Jeanette enjoyed nursing in a variety of settings, she especially enjoyed the time she spent at the George David Peake Memorial Burn Care Center at University Hospital, and working in Labor and Delivery at Boone Hospital Center where she made many lifelong friends. All who knew Jeanette will never forget her intelligence, wit, and loyalty to family and friends, as well as her fierce devotion to her children and grandchildren who are her pride and joy.
Jeanette is survived by her devoted husband Dale, father Mahlon Fairchild and his wife Johanne of Maryville, MO, sister Julie Fairchild of Columbia, brother Bruce (Sharon) Fairchild of Rockwell, TX, beloved children Lindsay (Dayton) Ponder of Las Vegas, NV, Jenna (Dustin) Stewart of Columbia, Benjamin (Shawna) Forbis of Columbia, and Julia (Allen) Forbis of Kansas City along with grandchildren Edward, Bradley, Ella, Adalee, Lane, and a sixth grandchild due in March of 2017. She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley.
A celebration of Jeanette’s life will be held on Friday, September 16th at 10:00 am at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Second Chance, 24687 MO-179, Boonville, MO 65233.
