Joann Snell

Born on the family farm in rural Wayne County, Iowa on January 31, 1937 to Glen and Kathaleen Swan. She was a proud farmer’s daughter and would speak often of growing up on the farm. JoAnn graduated from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Iowa. She would later retire from the University of Missouri-Columbia after over 27 years of service. She was also a homemaker and stay at home mother raising her two daughters Sandra Carol and Staci Jo.

JoAnn was a kind and gentle soul always putting others before herself even when she was fighting dementia she would still ask if there was anything she could do for someone else. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

JoAnn is survived by her daughter Staci Jo, her husband Michael Hershey and son Gavin Dean all of Higbee, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry W. Snell, parents Glen and Kathaleen Swan, brother Roy Lynn Swan and daughter Sandra Carol McGrath Bley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Caring Hearts and Hands of Columbia or to St Croix Hospice.

There will be a private graveside service.
