I think of Jonathan daily and his family. My son Corbin and I have taken piano lessons with Jonathan’s sister Shanae since March of 2015. We met Jonathan shortly after taking lessons. Corbin and Jonathan became great friends! They would play video games and laugh together. Corbin could always get Jonathan to laugh! The day before Jonathan passed I had a piano lesson with Shanae. Corbin went with me and he played video games and visited Jonathan. I could hear Jonathan laughing as I was having my lesson and Corbin too. I loved hearing his laughter! I knew they were both having a great time. I will never forget that day or his laughter! Until we meet again Jonathan. God bless you and your wonderful family!❤️🙏🏻

My heart is very heavy, right now, as I just was notified of the loss of Jonathan. I was fortunate enough to have him touch my life when I brought over several of Happy Tails’ dogs 7-8 years ago.  Turns out that the one I was so sure would not be a good fit, was the one that chose Jonathan, and vice versa.  That little black poodle that was a puppy mill rescue needed Jonathan, and showed it by immediately jumping in his chair, giving Jonathan a kiss, and that was it.

I am so sorry I was unaware of his passing, but want you to know that he, and your entire family, touched my life. And for that, I am grateful.

May God’s peace be with you in these terribly difficult days, and know our thoughts are with you all.

So sorry to hear about Jonathon. I was unfortunately out of town during the memorial services but I still wanted to leave one of the great memories Jonathon left us with while being involved in student ministries at the crossing. 

A couple years back, jonathon wanted to see a movie in the theatre pretty bad (maybe the avengers?). So our small group decided we would take him. We thought it would be something fun for him, but it was the other way around! Jonathon loved to stir things up. I tossed one piece of popcorn at a friend of ours in front of us and blamed it on Jonathon 
 when he turned around. Jonathon’s face lit up and he let out his classic  jon laugh.  So unfortunately  for the friend in front of us (and forum 8) we decided to use our popcorn for a little food fight...... Jonathon loved being involved in the typical high school shenanigans. 

He taught my small group and I a lot about how to enjoy the little things. And we were so glad to have him in our lives!

Jonathan was an amazing person! I’m honored that he allowed me to be his friend. I enjoyed reading to him as well as getting to hear him laugh at me when he always beat me in Uno!! No matter how hard I tried,  he always left me in the dust!!

My favorite memory of Jonathan would have to be right after my family and I moved to KC.  I didn’t have any friends yet and I was really lonely and struggling when I got a letter in the mail.  It was full of encouraging notes as well as pictures of him on vacation and a nice long letter. That totally made my day. Knowing that I had a friend thinking of me was just what I needed!!

Jonathan always knew how to make me smile and I am so thankful that I got to meet him!!  He was truly an amazing person!!!



I’m so very sorry to hear this. Although I hated for him to be sick, I always loved being his nurse in the ED when he came in. What a smile! My prayers are with you all.

We are Kaleb Johnson's grandparents, Jeff & Mary  Ann Johnson. Kaleb bowled on Lane 2 next to Jonathan for the past three years for Special Olympics at Town & Country Lanes.We had several enjoyable conversations with Mr. Butterworth as we cheered our  athletes on. We will miss Jonathan and his delightful smile. Our prayers & sympathy.
