Judy was born in Vinton, Benton County, Iowa on January 17th, 1945 to Albert Gottlieb Seboldt and Leone Grace Miller. After she graduated from Van Horne (Iowa) High School, she married John “Jack” Henry Hannen from Blairstown, Iowa in December 1963. She and Jack moved to Azay le Rideau, Indre-et-Loire, France where Jack was stationed in the US Army. They had two sons, John Henry Hannen Jr (Deena Gay Hansen) and Jeffery David Hannen. They divorced in 1974. In 1975 she met and married in 1976 Edward Nevels Reese in Solon, Iowa.
Judy was a devout Christian and dedicated her life to serving and caring for children. Throughout her life she had an almost unbroken chain of watching and teaching children in her home, at the homes of her five grandchildren, and both secular and church pre-schools.
Her life took her to many homes in France, Missouri, Iowa, Alabama, Texas, Indiana, Washington and finally in Columbia, Missouri near her brothers. One of her proudest moments was purchasing her own home there, once again establishing a day care for her grand-nephews and nieces along with local children. It truly was her joy in life to teach the young not only how to behave and learn but also to love God. She retired in September 2022.
She is survived by her two sons, five grandchildren, Kristen Leigh (Hannen) Verbos (Trevor Verbos), Miranda Gates (Hannen) Bass (Trevor Bass), Sean “Ava” Hannen, Chase David Hannen, and Logan John Hannen and her two great-grandchildren, Theodore Carpenter Verbos and Wyatt Henry Verbos and her two brothers, John Kieth Seboldt and Terrence Dean Seboldt (June Moore). Preceding in joining the Lord: her parents, her sister, Margaret “Peggy” Lou Seboldt, her brother, Thomas Lee Seboldt, her first husband Jack and second husband Ed.
The number of lives she touched caring for others is known only to her and God. Although she is gone, she will live in our hearts forever.
Services will be held at her place of worship, C2 Church, Columbia, Missouri on January 4, 2025 at 1pm with a visitation beginning earlier at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, Judy requested donations to the Kingdom Builders Ministry (https://subsplash.com/u/christianchapelassemblyo/give). Judy’s final resting place will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Columbia, Missouri.
