Julia Buckler

Julia Ann “Judy” Bennett Buckler, 90, of Columbia, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026. Visitation will be Friday, March 6th from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia. A graveside service will be performed at noon. Friends are family are welcome to join a church service at Broadway Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. following the graveside service.

Judy was born in Boone County, Missouri on July 27, 1935 to Charles Monroe Bennett and Virginia (Turner) Bennett. She was a graduate of Hickman High School. On December 24, 1951 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Wren Buckler who predeceased her.  They celebrated 70 years of marriage before his passing in 2022.

A daughter, Deborah Ann Buckler, and a son, Phillip Monroe Buckler, preceded her in death.

Judy was a proud mother and homemaker while her children were young. Judy was an excellent seamstress making clothing for her family, including a tuxedo for her son’s prom. She also made wedding dresses and special occasion clothing for many people

in the area. For many years, she worked as a bridal consultant for The Bridal Shoppe and for Nolte’s Bridal. She and her sister, Connie, worked closely together as bridal consultants and seamstresses, often traveling on weekends to support brides on their special days. In later years, Judy worked as a sales consultant at The Pen Point.

Judy and Ken were founding members of Broadway Christian Church and remained active in the church for most of her life. In addition, she volunteered for many years at The Wardrobe in Columbia with Ken. They enjoyed attending concerts and sporting

events for their grandchildren and traveling with family and friends.

Judy is survived by her sister, Connie Agan; three grandchildren: Alexandra (Andrew) Boucher, William Buckler, and Gracelyn Buckler; three great-grandchildren: Emma, Warren, and Lucas as well as several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Broadway Christian Church or The Wardrobe.
