Kenneth C. West

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 1:30 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Columbia, MO.

Ken was born in Lebanon, MO the son of Robert and Sybil (Calkin) West; his father survives of Lebanon, MO and his mother preceded him in death. He married Linda J. Wilhite in Columbia, MO on August 30, 1964, who survives of the home.

Ken had been in Manufacturing in a variety of management positions for various companies. During his career he worked for Olin Corporation, McGraw Edison, Jackson Water Heaters, Toastmaster Corporation, Ryobi Corporation, DP Fitness, and Designer Checks. Ken finally retired in 2007 after several years with Rawlings Sporting Goods as Vice President of Operations which took he and his wife to Costa Rica to live for three years.

Ken enjoyed spending time traveling with his wife, spending winters in Punta Gorda, FL, and watching his grandchildren participate in soccer, track, basketball, volleyball and baseball. He enjoyed time boating with his family while living at Lake Ozark, MO and working at The Cove Golf course. He also enjoyed playing golf.

He is survived by two children, Rich (Stefanie) West of Columbia, MO and Laurie (Clinton) Painter of Columbia, MO; one brother, Robert “Bob” (Lynn) West of Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren, Scott West, Bradley West, Brooke Painter and Jeffrey Painter, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. He was also preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey West in 1985 and one sister, Carolyn West in 2004.
