He was adopted and raised by Clyllis Dale Newsom who preceded him in death. He is survived by wife Carol Ellison Newsom, son Joshua, daughter-in-law Molly of Columbia, MO; siblings Shawn and Dawn Newsom of Edmond, OK; Paul and Diane Newsom of Comanche, OK; Paige Newsom of New Jersey; Kevin Newsom of Little Rock, AR; Melinda and Sando of New York; Manda and Al Hashami of New Jersey; Cindi Robinson Taylor of Little Rock, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry received a Bachelor’s Degree from Langston University in Computer Sciences in 2008 and a Master’s in Biblical Studies from Grace Bible College & Seminary 2018. He received his Doctorate in Theology from Grace Bible College & Seminary.
He was Associate Pastor at Crossroads Church in Sedalia, MO. He also played bass guitar, provided computer and sound tech, and filled in every gap needed. He enjoyed his time working IT for the Missouri Highway Patrol from 2015 until his retirement in 2018.
The proudest moment of his life was officiating the wedding of his son Joshua and new daughter-in-law Molly on April 16, 2019.
Services will be held Tuesday April 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm at 1st Assembly of God, 1100 N. 7th St Columbia, MO 65201. Services will be officiated by Bishop Tommy Powell, Administrative Bishop of Missouri Church of God, Cleveland, TN; Bishop David Tennyson, Youth and Christian Education; and Rev. Chris Cantrell, Pastor of Crossroad Church of God, Sedalia, MO.
Larry will be buried at sea by the United States Navy. He will be greatly missed by family and church.
