Leroy Gustav Buescher

Leroy Buescher, 98, a life-long resident of Boone County, MO, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. A private family graveside service will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia.

Leroy was born May 2, 1927, in Hartsburg, MO to Fred A. and Hilda E. Luetkemeyer Buescher. In 1945, he graduated from Ashland High School and was drafted into the US Army. After his military service, he received a bookkeeping certification and began working for Missouri Motor Company. He married Imogene “Jean” Purcell in Columbia on June 9, 1956. After leaving Missouri Motor Company, he worked for J Louis Crum Mechanical Contractors. He soon purchased the company and served as the owner for 30 years before retiring. In his spare time, he loved to play golf and repair antique cash registers. He had a great sense of humor, piercing blue eyes and was a loving and devoted husband.

Leroy is survived by his wife of 70 years Imogene “Jean” Buescher; a son, Keith (Lucinda) Buescher of Springfield, IL, grandchildren, Kelly (Sarah Orton) Schweikert and Ginger Schweikert, Jacob (Megan) Buescher, Frances (Charles) Miles, and Catherine (Tyler) Brinning; great grandchildren, Carter, Thomas & Amelia Schweikert, Isabel Buescher, Atlas Miles, and Grace Buescher; many nieces and nephews and a loving extended family. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Kenneth (Janice) Schweikert; siblings, Gladys Brehe, Eleanor Oelschlaeger, Clarence Buescher, Fredrick Buescher, & Harding Buescher, and his parents.
