

He was born September 18, 1919 in Chariton County, north of Keytesville, MO, son of Cyrus and Mary (McAdam) Cavanah. He was united in marriage to Anne Willhite on September 12, 1948 and she preceded him in death. He married Ocal Hensley Condra on March 21, 1998 she also preceded him in death.
Lloyd spent the early part of his life on the farm, getting his elementary education in one room rural schools and graduating from Salisbury High School in 1940. He enrolled at the University of Missouri, Columbia in the fall of 1940 and attended two years before being called into military service during World War II. After basic training and officer’s school he was assigned to an armored artillery unit. He served under Geo. S. Patton from the Normandy Beaches to the Battle of the Bulge in the European theater. He was discharged as Captain in 1946. He reentered the University of Missouri receiving BS and MS degrees in Agronomy. He joined the Agronomy faculty in 1948 and retired as professor emeritus in 1985. He was engaged in teaching, research and managing the Agronomy Research Farms. He was instrumental in developing the Missouri Foundation Seed Program, a program that increases and distributes quality seeds to the farmers of Missouri. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho and Gamma Sigma Delta fraternities, Golden K Kiwanis Club of Columbia and the Missouri United Methodist Church.
Lloyd is survived by one son, Richard and his wife Sandra of North Palm Beach, FL, Daughter in law Joan Cavanah, of Columbia, MO, Step son Charles Condra and wife Catherine of Fenton, MO. Grandchildren, Kristin, Molly, Haydon, Dylan, Alison and Emily. Lloyd also had seven great grand-children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son Charles Cavanah and three brothers.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
