Martin IntVeld, age 100, of Moberly, MO, passed away at Meadow Ridge Senior Living on Saturday, November 23, 2024. Martin was born May 12, 1924, to Albert and Johanna IntVeld (Dutch immigrants), in Sioux Center, Iowa. He married Dorothy Travaille on May 28, 1946, in Worthington, MN. She preceded him in death in 1995.
Martin was a very successful farmer in Iowa and Missouri. When he retired in the 1980’s, he and Dorothy moved to Columbia, Missouri. He then pursued his hobby of woodworking and took it to a professional level, selling his artwork in resort areas like Branson and Dollywood. Martin was raised in a Christian home where giving back to God was a priority. He gave away all his woodworking income to missions. He moved back to Moberly in 2009. When he turned 99, he was making new friends, riding a motorized scooter around his neighborhood.
Music was important in Martin’s life. He sang with his sisters at church events, duets with Dorothy, in church choirs, and occasionally a solo. While in Moberly, he was a member of Carpenter Street Baptist Church and also attended Trinity Methodist. Martin also attended both First Baptist Church and The Crossing in Columbia.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Samuel, Arnold, and Delmar and sisters Alice, Margaret and Judy Andrews. He is survived by 5 children, Sharon (Bill) Smith, Bonnie Rose, Bruce (Deborah) IntVeld, Becky IntVeld, and Robyn (Eddie) McKeown. There are 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by brother Larry (Murriel) IntVeld and sister Vicky (Keith) Williamson.
A celebration of life was held on Martin’s 100th birthday when he could enjoy it. Private graveside services and burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia, MO.
