

Nancy Gayle Coleman was born the second of four children to Richard and Elva (Littleton) Beach in Kansas City, Missouri on December 14, 1953. She attended the Kansas City School of Practical Nursing and graduated as a licensed practical nurse in 1972. She later also earned her bachelor's degree in education in secondary social studies in 1982 from the University of Missouri, where she was a member of Pi Alpha Theta and Kappa Delta Pi.
Nancy met Michael Andrew Coleman at church and married in 1970. Due to Michael's career as a Methodist minister, the couple lived in many towns throughout Missouri before settling in Columbia for their retirement.
Nancy taught at several schools and also worked as a nurse in juvenile, skilled nursing, and correctional facilities throughout the state of Missouri.
Nancy converted to Catholicism along with her husband and were members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Passionate about music and performing, Nancy participated in community theater, played piano at church, and sang in several choirs.
Nancy was preceded in death by a son, Asher, and her husband Michael. She is survived by: her daughter Abigail Coleman, daughter-in-law Jamie Coleman; brother Kenneth Beach; sister Maxine Beach; sister Glenda Sell, niece Dusty Karnes, niece Crystal Dutzel, great-niece Katie Karnes and great-nephew Luke Karnes, as well as many extended family members, beloved friends, former co-workers and students.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Second Chance Animal Rescue in honor of Nancy's lifelong love of animals.
