
Nina Duren Oliver, 92, died on February 5, 2023 at her home in Largo, Florida of natural causes. A funeral service will be held at Memorial Funeral Home, on June 24 at 11 AM.
Nina was born on October 11, 1930 in Centralia, Missouri to William and Edna Duren. She had one sister, Lucille. Nina graduated from Hickman High School in 1948 and went on to Christian College obtaining her AA in 1950. She then earned her BS Degree in Education at University of Missouri, 1959. She was an elementary school teacher while her first husband of 23 years, Richard Long attended medical school. They raised three children; Richard III, Michael and Kathryn. She served as fourth-grade teacher in Tampa, Florida at Roosevelt Elementary 1959-1962. Nina returned to Columbia in 1976 and worked at MU as an Administrative Assistant in Admissions, Operating Room Scheduling and worked her way to Academic Advisor retiring in 1996. She was asked to return part time and did so for six more years.
Nina was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, President of Hillsborough County Medical Auxiliary, and a member of DAR. She attended First Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Edna Duren, sister, Lucille Chrisman and her husband of 23 years, Richard “Dick” Oliver. She is survived by her children, Richard Long III, Michael Long and Kathryn Kozik. She will be missed by her 9 grandchildren Richard IV, James, Jon, Amanda,-Michael, Drew,Chris, Kevin, Kara and her nieces, nephews and 10 great grandchildren.
