Roy Lee Rogers

Roy Lee Rogers, 78, of Columbia, Missouri passed away Monday February 1, 2016, at University Hospital. Visitation will be 6-8pm Thursday February 4, 2016 at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00am Friday February 5, 2016, at First Christian Church 101 N. 10th, Columbia, with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Roy was preceded in death by his grandparents Roy and Ida Wright and his parents Ralph and Mary Lou Rogers.

Roy is survived by his loving of 30 years, wife Karen Rogers, of the home, three children Teresa Rose (Wayne), of Olathe, KS; Beth Brenneman (Joe), of California and Anne Rogers, of Columbia. Brother Raymond Rogers (Jeanne), of St. Louis. Grandchildren Jacob Rose(Amanda), Haley Rose, Cory Brenneman, Alyssa Rose, Nichols Brenneman, Jenna Rose, Kyle Brenneman, Derek Brenneman, Max Herriman, Jackson Dampier, Emily Dampier, Carter Dampier, Sarah Dampier and 2 nephews.

Roy graduated from Hickman High School and the University of Missouri with a degree in Agriculture Journalism. While working at Iowa State University, he studied for his Master’s Degree and also served in the Marines for two years. He worked in agriculture for many years before becoming a real estate developer and builder. After retiring, he was a substitute teacher for the Columbia Public Schools. Roy was an avid golfer, active in his church, and a past president of the Kiwanis Club. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
