Velma Mary Brightwell

She was born in Perryville, MO on June 1, 1927 to Floyd and Pauline (Cattoor) Hagan. She was married to Willis “Bill” Brightwell on February 23, 1946. They made their home in St. Louis until moving to Columbia, MO in 2009. They were married 66 years until his passing in 2012.

Vicky is survived by three daughters, Brenda Hug (Doug) of Kerrville, TX, Pat Hays (Bill) of Columbia, MO, and Joy Schillinger (Dan) of Rogers, AR; 7 grandchildren, Allan Hug (Kelly), Brad Hug (Andrea), Brian Hays (Kelly), Erin McCurry (Kyle), Brent Hays, Danielle Johnson (Brantley) and Sam Schillinger (Harper); 7 great grandchildren, Evan, Ben and Will McCurry, Briley and Brig Hays, Scarlett Johnson and Lucy Lowry; her sister Sandy Greenemay of O’Fallon, MO; brothers-in-law Bob Greenemay of O’Fallon, MO and Harold Brightwell of Jonesboro, AR; and one sister-in-law Mary Johnson of Mesquite, TX as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Vicky was predeceased by two sisters and one brother.

Vicky loved being a homemaker throughout her marriage and her family was her pride and joy. She was an amazing woman, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

A visitation will be held Monday, September 23 at 10 am at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, MO. Service will follow at 11am. Interment will follow the service in Memorial Park Cemetery.
