Charles L. Powell, age 93 of Foxworth, MS passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 at Collins State Veterans Home in Collins, MS. Charles was a veteran of the US Army serving in World War II, and worked as an engineering technician with Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO. He later returned to his hometown of Foxworth and was employed with Marion County Schools where he retired. Charles was a member of Foxworth United Methodist Church and enjoyed a pastime as an amateur radio (HAM) operator.
Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his wives, Ruth Erickson Powell, and Mary Amerson Powell; parents, Purcil L. Powell and Vertna L. Thornhill Powell; sisters, Hertha Powell Broome, and Monti Powell Robbins; brothers, Wilfred L. Powell, John L. Powell, and Blakes L. Powell. Surviving family members include his daughter, Carol Powell Rials (Neville) of Kokomo, MS; a son, Ray A. Powell (Colleen) of Canton, MS; sister, Libra Powell Coley of Foxworth; four grandchildren, Roman L. Rials, Kayla Rials Wallace, Jared N. Powell, and Regan L. Powell; four great-grandchildren, Kaylie A. Wallace, Kyle S. Wallace, Paislee G. Rials, and R. Price Rials; two stepdaughters, Debi Newman, and Cathy Johnson (Dwayne) both of Mt. Pleasant, TX; and several step-grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, MS. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Reed Houston, officiating.
