Clayton DeWitt Robbins, of Columbia, Mississippi, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at the age of 83. He was born in Marion County where he has remained a lifelong resident. In 1988, Clayton opened Robbins Body Shop in Prentiss where he operated until his retirement in 2006. He was mechanically inclined and could fix and repair anything. Clayton was happiest when he was outdoors and enjoyed working in the yard, farming, fishing, Braves Baseball, and trips to the Smokey Mountains. He served his Lord and his community through his membership with New Union Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Clayton was devoted to his family and will be remembered as a faithful husband and a loving father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Semion DeWitt and Tamar Bell Robbins; two sisters, Wydell King and Lillie Doun Broom; a brother, Reese Elbert Robbins; and a grandson, Craig Michael Robbins. Clayton is survived by his wife of 65 years, Madie Bee Robbins; two daughters, Debbie Rutland and her husband, Nelson and Sharon Kay Graham and her husband, Wylie; a son Clifford Robbins; a sister Wannell Davis; five brothers, Willis Robbins and his wife, Georgia Nell, Doye Robbins and his wife, Danie, Jerry Robbins and his wife, Mary Frances, Kent Robbins, and Grady Robbins and his wife Kathren; eight grandchildren, Shannon Rutland, Shelley Rutland, Tony Robbins and his wife, Ashley, Tyler Robbins and his wife, Keleigh Anne, Blake Robbins, Benita Kay Graham, Mathew Graham and his wife, Cadie, and James Graham; and five great-grandchildren, Anson Robbins, Ashton Robbins, Brinley Robbins, Evie Robbins, and Jackson Graham.
There will be a visitation for Clayton at New Union Baptist Church from 4:30pm until 9:00pm on Saturday, March 19, 2022. The funeral service, officiated by Brother Darrin Webb and Brother Walter Graham, will be at the church on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery assisted by Charles Robbins, Rickey Robbins, Andy Robbins, David Robbins, Rodney Robbins, and Jeffrey Foxworth.
