On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, Dakota “Kota” Johnson, of Sandy Hook, Mississippi, passed from this life into God’s presence at the age of 24 and is walking the streets of gold. Known for being a hard worker, Kota was a derrick man employed with Challenger Deepwell Servicing, Inc. He enjoyed anything outdoors, especially riding his motorcycle and fishing. Kota was the life of any party and he would light up any room that he entered. He was devoted to his family and always put his family first. He loved deeply and he was deeply loved. Dakota was strong, yet humble and very respectful of others. He will be remembered for his contagious laugh and mischievous smile.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Russell “Scooter” and Jeanette Robert and Charles and Loleda McLeod; his paternal grandfather, H Y Johnson; and an aunt, Mary McLeod. Kota is survived by his fiancé, Kaite Culpepper; his mother and step-father, Trisha and Dewey Stringer; his father and step-mother, D J and Danielle Johnson; two sisters, Toni Johnson and Sarah Stewart; his brother, Leland Beard; his maternal grandmother, Angie (Matt) Esquivel; his maternal grandfather, Billy McLeod; his paternal grandmother, MawMaw Sherry Ann Johnson; his uncle and aunt, Russell and Ann Marie DeLancey; and a host of cousins.
There will be a visitation for Kota at Pine Burr Church Of The Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by brother W D Hibley, will be at the church on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
